Today -- March 14 -- our office celebrated International Pi
Day(***), by bringing in a whole bunch of pies. (March 14 --
3 1 4 -- get it? Not funny, just fun.) Apple, cherry, banana cream, pecan -- you name
it. And amazingly, for every
single one of those pies, the ratio of its circumference to its diameter was --
you’ll never guess -- more or less 3.14 !! Thus proving the theorem.
(***) Actually Interplanetary Pi Day, since the value of that transcendental constant is invariant throughout the universe.
