the radio-essays of M. Fouad Laroui -- “écrivain marocain d’expression française”, as
we say in the trade. Here is
his latest, on stultification (abaissement
du niveau mental):
The title puns on the phrase tabagisme passif -- “second-hand smoke” -- and might be translated “second-hand
stupidity”.
He mostly squibs Internet niaiserie about celebs -- an easy, almost a lazy target. But much the same occurs these
days, whenever I hear Republicans spouting and expounding: you can just feel the brain-cells,
dying one by one …
