That famous phrase from the oath of physicians, “First of all: do no harm”. Historically, this has often been honored in the breach; still, it’s a good maxim to have in mind.
The popular mind groups “doctors and lawyers” on one side, “plumbers, carpenters and electricians” on the other. But perhaps the cut should fall otherwise. For can anyone imagine what would become of lawyers, were they sworn to “do no harm”?
